Surya namaskar (Sun Salutation), is the combination of twelve one by one continue movement. The movement are combined with forward and backward bending of spinal cord. These all movement are the traditional exercises of yogic practices. In these twelve movement, five asanas repeat two times and two other asanas just one time and becomes 12 times bending of spinal cord. It is come under yoga because yoga related with universal growth and due to 12 times forward and backward movement of spinal cord, there is also possibiltiy about development of the brain and it's functiion. Reason, important prana(oxygen) and other important exchanges take place through many canal(nadi or track) passing through spinal cord. These all asanas are 1.Namaskar Mudra 2.Parvatasan 3.Hastpadasan 4.Ashwasanchalan 5.Bhudharasan 6.Sastang Namanasan 7. Bhujangasan 8.Bhudharasan(repeat) 9.Ashwasanchalan(repeat) 10.Hastpadasan(repeat) 11.Parvatasan(repeat) 12.Namaskar Mudra(repeat).
Surya namaskar more beneficial when it is done with breath and mentaly speaking(singing) various different name of Surya(Sun) as Aditya, Bhaskar. These name can be sing like mantra with the sense of salutation. For example: Om Adityaya Namah, Om Bhaskaraya Namah. Om stand in the sense of mantra and namah stand in the sense of salutation. Speed of the doing Surya Namaskar can be depends on the personal breath stamina or the body condition and mood, but it should be not very slow or very fast and all the part should be in the same order.
